Free Week Is Awesome!

Ever since I put my katana down and stepped away from Van’adiel last November I thought that my adventures in FFXI were over.  A new adventure began in Eorzea and that’s where I’ve spent most of my MMO time these days.  However, this week has been free to play so I thought I’d pick up the blade once again.

And what a week it has been.  I’ve been able to experience the entire Rhapsodies of Vana’diel story as it stands today.  I’ve also obtained and spent an additional 70 merits and 4 job points.  I’ve even unlocked bard after 8 years or so of having been on this server.  Shocking to think that I still have jobs locked (and still do; GEO and SCH remain locked) after all this time.

Last, and perhaps saddest, I was able to experience the final chapter of the Mumor event.  With FFXI basically going into auto-pilot with no more updates by early next year it seems unlikely that there will be any more new Mumor events after this one.  I’ve been lucky enough to experience all of them from the beginning. It’s kind of sad that this is probably the last one.  But it had a fitting end.

I may come back and post more about my free week experience along with some pictures in the future but for now I just wanted to post a quick entry.

..Oh and for those out there who may still wonder about Infobar… well, sadly, chances are I won’t be finishing it.  I will zip up the final database sometime later and upload it here and maybe post some instructions on how to edit it yourself if someone wants to pick up the mantle and actually get the thing updated.

Wrapping Up My Time in Vana’Diel This Week!

Just finished up with FFXI for this free period (won’t get to play Sat, Sun, Mon or Tues and it ends on Wed; next day off is Thurs so it’ll be over by then).

Here’s a few things though:

  • I got the Rajas ring. :woop:
  • I got Trust: Prishe and Trust: Ulmia
  • I now have capped GK skill!
  • And about 6,000 capacity points.  Seems like it takes forever to get a single job point.
  • It’s possible to solo some of the reives now using trust NPCs (used Prishe, Trion and the WHM taru and was able to clear a reive solo; this is a far cry from when I was murdered by the grasshoppers when I got SoA).
  • I took 368 pictures in the three days I played lol.
  • Besieged monsters still hit like mack trucks but with giants drink and spamming third eye it wasn’t too bad.  Managed to survive the entire battle and only fell into red HP once (when I was helping fight one of the beastman generals). I think this is the first time I’ve ever been able to help fight the generals.
  • ..the limit points you get from besieged has been increased a lot.  I got 15,000 limit points/IS when that besieged battle was over.  When was this increased??

I have ten-ish more zones to add to infobar before it’s “up to date”.  :suicide:    I’ll try to be working on that harder next week (I can do that without needing an active sub).

And that’s probably going to do it for me on FFXI.  I don’t have time to do anything else, unfortunately, and I won’t be re-subbing this month (Hyrule Warriors comes out in the not too far future I’ll be playing that).  Depending how things go, I miiiiiiiiiight consider re-subbing in October but we’ll see.

2012 Gallery Up

I’ve been collecting the new warp points around Vana’diel to make it easier to get around.  Some of the warp points are in annoying places (*cough* top of the worst zone in the history of video games *cough*) and others are just like “why bother?” because they’re so close to other warp points (the marshlands, for example).  Oh well.  It’s still nice having something to do for once that doesn’t involve killing beasts for my keitonotachi (which I still need to work on X_X I hate that trial so much).

While doing all that, I’m helping get Tiranadel up to level 60, farming RDM testimonies, killing NMs like a boss, and otherwise actually having fun with the game. Fun? In FFXI? Lies and scandal!

And I noticed that I had forgotten to upload the 2012 FFXI pictures I took to the album site.  There’s 231 pictures this time around (which is really not that many, most years have over 400).   Come check them out by clicking here!  (note that Photobucket really sucks now and is uploading them in reverse order.  No matter how many times I try or which ways I try to do it, it keeps uploading them in reverse order. :suicide:)

I should repeat that you probably won’t find any “ground breaking” photos in my albums.  Some of them are just silly pics I took of things that are so common that I don’t know why I even hit the button.  Still, I love to take tons of pictures and look through them on occasion just to remember some of the stuff I’ve done.

Infobar Database Version 1.8

And here’s a nice way to start the new year: an update to the Infobar Database!

Database Update version 1.8 (Jan 6, 2012)

And here’s what’s new so far:

Version 1.8 – Jan 6, 2012
Fixed all of The Boyahda Tree (some monsters were there but the location was wrong so they wouldn’t show up) and then went ahead and added the GoV monsters for the following zones: The Boyahda Tree / Korroloka Tunnel / Kuftal Tunnel / Gustav Tunnel / Labyrinth of Onzozo. I used info from both wikis, so hopefully I didn’t miss anything in those zones.

I noticed some of the other zones listed for GoV (such as Ifrit’s Cauldron) doesn’t have any new monsters, hence why they’re not listed above.

Let me know if I missed any and I’ll fix it asap.

Infobar Database 1.5 Release

And here it is! This version should have every monster in every Abyssea zone, finally, except for the Bastion NMs. Please note that the Heroes of Abyssea zones are severely lacking information on the Wiki. Also, as I have mentioned in the last post, I have no way of actually testing any of the Heroes zones as I don’t have that expansion. So it’s up to you guys to go out there and gather information and report back. Let me know if I’ve missed anything (again) and I’ll be sure to add it for the next version.

Database Update version 1.5 (December 30, 2010)

And here’s what’s new so far:

Version 1.5 – December 30, 2010
This version contains the Heroes of Abyssea zone monsters, the level 90 monsters they added to the [S] zones, and quite a few additions in other Abyssea areas that I somehow missed (though I was positive I had added them before).
