Another Free Period!

Oh cool, it’s another free period for players.  Maybe I can do some more RoV.  I did beat the second chapter and really enjoyed the story up until this point.  Let’s see what chapter 3 brings.

Huh. Okay. So she’s hiding out in there and I need to kill three four-armed monsters.  Got it.  No problem!

Uhhhh.. Housten, we have a problem!

…oh.   So that’s what RoV chapter 3 is going to be like.  Welp!  Guess I’m not finishing that ever!

Free Week Is Awesome!

Ever since I put my katana down and stepped away from Van’adiel last November I thought that my adventures in FFXI were over.  A new adventure began in Eorzea and that’s where I’ve spent most of my MMO time these days.  However, this week has been free to play so I thought I’d pick up the blade once again.

And what a week it has been.  I’ve been able to experience the entire Rhapsodies of Vana’diel story as it stands today.  I’ve also obtained and spent an additional 70 merits and 4 job points.  I’ve even unlocked bard after 8 years or so of having been on this server.  Shocking to think that I still have jobs locked (and still do; GEO and SCH remain locked) after all this time.

Last, and perhaps saddest, I was able to experience the final chapter of the Mumor event.  With FFXI basically going into auto-pilot with no more updates by early next year it seems unlikely that there will be any more new Mumor events after this one.  I’ve been lucky enough to experience all of them from the beginning. It’s kind of sad that this is probably the last one.  But it had a fitting end.

I may come back and post more about my free week experience along with some pictures in the future but for now I just wanted to post a quick entry.

..Oh and for those out there who may still wonder about Infobar… well, sadly, chances are I won’t be finishing it.  I will zip up the final database sometime later and upload it here and maybe post some instructions on how to edit it yourself if someone wants to pick up the mantle and actually get the thing updated.

Wrapping Up My Time in Vana’Diel This Week!

Just finished up with FFXI for this free period (won’t get to play Sat, Sun, Mon or Tues and it ends on Wed; next day off is Thurs so it’ll be over by then).

Here’s a few things though:

  • I got the Rajas ring. :woop:
  • I got Trust: Prishe and Trust: Ulmia
  • I now have capped GK skill!
  • And about 6,000 capacity points.  Seems like it takes forever to get a single job point.
  • It’s possible to solo some of the reives now using trust NPCs (used Prishe, Trion and the WHM taru and was able to clear a reive solo; this is a far cry from when I was murdered by the grasshoppers when I got SoA).
  • I took 368 pictures in the three days I played lol.
  • Besieged monsters still hit like mack trucks but with giants drink and spamming third eye it wasn’t too bad.  Managed to survive the entire battle and only fell into red HP once (when I was helping fight one of the beastman generals). I think this is the first time I’ve ever been able to help fight the generals.
  • ..the limit points you get from besieged has been increased a lot.  I got 15,000 limit points/IS when that besieged battle was over.  When was this increased??

I have ten-ish more zones to add to infobar before it’s “up to date”.  :suicide:    I’ll try to be working on that harder next week (I can do that without needing an active sub).

And that’s probably going to do it for me on FFXI.  I don’t have time to do anything else, unfortunately, and I won’t be re-subbing this month (Hyrule Warriors comes out in the not too far future I’ll be playing that).  Depending how things go, I miiiiiiiiiight consider re-subbing in October but we’ll see.

CoP Finished!

Smz and I have finished Chains of Promathia after all these years!  Forgive me for basically becoming a broken record but I never thought I’d ever see the day that I’d actually finish CoP.

The last time we really touched it was in 2011, when we obtained Sea access.  It’s absolutely amazing how much easier SE has made FFXI over the years.  When I returned to FFXI in 2007 (from 2004 originally) we couldn’t even get through the first 3 crags.  Now, 7 years later, we duoed and absolutely destroyed Promathia with the help of Trust NPCs and iLevel equipment.

Tomorrow I’ll finally be able to get the Rajas ring that I’ve been dreaming about for all these years.  Hooray!

Some pictures below the gap.  I ended up taking over 100 pictures but I think I’ll try to limit myself to a few.

Until next time!

Iyouboushi Returns to Vana’Diel for a Week!

Hey everyone!

As you can probably tell by looking at the date of my last post on this blog, I haven’t played FFXI in a very long time.  In fact, the last time I truly played was around the 18th of March in 2013.  Since then I’ve been really busy with other things and sadly had to give my FFXI adventures up.

Thanks to the free week that SE is providing this week, starting today, I’ve been able to enjoy the game once more.  With Smz by my side, we’ve been working on trying to finish the CoP storylines.  While we were able to finish 8-1, we really didn’t have time to work on 8-2.  Instead we decided to finish the last two Bastok missions that I had left.  I never thought in my wildest dreams that I’d ever see the end of the main storyline of Bastok.

Anyway, pictures below the jump.  I ended up taking 99 pictures today but I’ll try to keep myself from posting all of them here lol.

Aht Urhgan Missions 12, 13 and 14 Done!

Guess who decided to resub for July! This guy! Woo. It feels weird rejoining after nearly three months of not touching the game. But I saw the live Vanafest 2012 show and it just made me feel nostalgic and really hyped for the future of FFXI. So…I caved in and decided to rejoin. Woo!

This month, since I doubt I’ll have too much time to actually play, I plan on working mostly on ToAU and Zilart missions and maybe grinding my Great Sword skill up (for the new Rune Fencer job whenever the new expansion finally gets released).

Today I finished the headstone pilgrimage mission I had started before I quit and decided to do a few of the ToAU missions.

Not a bad start I guess.

Mission Item Drop Rates

There’s one thing that really gets on my nerves in this game:  mission item drop rates.
