Infobar Version 1.5 – Updated

This is just a quick post to mention that I’ve sort of ninja-updated version 1.5 of the Infobar database a few times since its original release. If you’re currently using this version, please download it again.

If you’re curious as to what I’ve done to make an announcement like this: Delkfutts tower was really messed up and is fixed now, found a few mobs in the Abyssea zones that are aggressive but weren’t listed as such (and now they are), Apkallu are now listed as aggressive (even though their aggressiveness depends on whether or not people have been killing them, it’s definitely better to be safe than sorry), and I’ve started to clean up the database a little bit (found a few things that could be taken out so now the size of the database is slightly smaller).

Something that was brought to my attention is that most of the mobs are missing their respawn times. Yes, this is absolutely true. Do I plan to fix it/add them? Perhaps slowly over time. There’s thousands and thousands of mobs in this game (even if it doesn’t seem like it). It’s going to be quite a task to add them all.

And that’s it for now! As usual, if you find anything messed up let me know here or via the Windower Forum.

Attention NM Alliance Leaders

Tonight I wasn’t really planning on playing any FFXI. I’ve been spending so much time in the game that other areas of my life are starting to be affected. But, alas, this game is like herion and I’m a horrible addict.

Sea Access! At Last!

I love how SE made CoP a lot easier. I know there’s some die-hards out there who STILL, to this day, think that removing the level caps was a horrible idea and that SE should be burned to the ground for such grievances against mankind but I say screw those people. CoP has one of the best storylines in the game (that I’ve seen so far) and is actually pretty fun now that it’s possible for me to actually do any of it (as I’m sure I mentioned, prior to the removal of the level caps I had been stuck trying to find a way to do the first three crags for months).

So last night Smz and I blitzed through the three NMs part (the kraken, tonberry and buggard). The only one that we thought we’d have trouble with was the tonberry but it turns out that you can knock its life down to about 30% or so and then kite it using desperate flourish until it tries to use its 2hr. Funny enough, I was in the middle of an animation when it used throat stab and that was the only danger we had the entire fight (heck, the buggard was harder to kill and even that was a pushover at 90).

Up next was Tenzen. We were pretty sure that we couldn’t duo him. We ended up asking our BLM friend, Rootsono, to help us out. And it was a total success. We owned him. It was almost funny just how fast he died once we got started with it. Most of the time was spent on meditate and timers.

The end result: we have Sea access! And the first thing we did was beat up a giant UFO! Boy those things hit hard.

This might be the end of our CoP progression for a while. Not necessarily because we’re burned out on it but rather that we just don’t have the jobs necessary to progress any further as it stands. I don’t know if we can duo the three NMs at each of the towers. But even if that is possible, I’m fairly sure we can’t duo the next mission after that. We’ll have to either wait for some LS members to unzombie themselves from Abyssea or try to shout for pickup groups (and hope they can unzombie themselves from Abyssea).

Either way though, I’m excited to have a new zone. Even if said zone has mobs that can beat the snot out of you.

Bastok Mission 7-2 Soloed

I keep ending up in situations where I’m forced to solo and test the limits of just what a level 90 samurai can do.

I Soloed Ultima

Smz and I have been trying to progress with the CoP storyline the last few times I’ve been able to play. Tonight we finally decided to try 6-4, i.e. the airship fight.

Capped! Wait, what?

Smz and I finally got into another Abyssea party (well, his first). I have to admit, at first it went really slow but by the end of it, it was even more amazing than the first party. Like last time, everyone was really nice. Unlike last time, there was very little swapping out of members (so we didn’t constantly have newbies we had to worry about getting kill shots), and while xp started painfully slow (30 xp/kill) it was over 600 xp/kill by the end.

Speaking of xp.. in four hours I received 343,998 xp total. I went from 9,000 xp away from level 88 and 2k away from a 3rd merit point to literally capped everything to the point where I could no long receive xp/limit points in FOUR HOURS.

Some of you out there who live in Abyssea are probably shrugging going “yeah, so what?” But for me, this is amazing. I mean, I had grinded two levels via Bastion and was becoming more and more frustrated with it (and in turn, the game itself). Last night kind of re-vitalized the game for me and got me excited again. So kudos to such an awesome party I had.

Also, it was pretty neat to see blue on everything. I never thought I’d ever see 20 merits and max limit points too.

Until next time!

Bastion Guide

According to this blog’s stats, a majority of people find this blog by searching for Bastion information. Now, I have two posts on Bastion so far but they’re mostly personal experiences. Since people seem to be wanting hard-cold facts/information on Bastion, I thought I’d write more of a guide to Bastion rather than “hey, here’s what I did and what happened to me.” If you’re looking for Bastion info, look no further. As a small warning, this guide might be a little long but I tried to cover everything.
